New Pilot Jobs, where to go?

Remember this is my opinion and not everything I write may be what you have experienced. So looking for New Pilot Jobs, where to go?

Depending on where you are in the world and what you want to end up flying there a few choices. For low time pilots it can always be hard to get your foot in the door and it may take months if you don’t know anyone in aviation.

However not all is lost. There are a few countries that are known for taking lower time pilots of all nationalities.

These are:
  • Namibia
  • Botswana
  • Zambia
  • Mozambique
  • Kenya
  • Tanzania
  • Indonesia
  • Philippines
  • Maldives

There may be a few more, but these are the ones I know.

I will put a list of the companies that operate in each of these countries at the bottom of this post.

The salary does vary quite a bit in each of these countries and the one that pays the best is probably Indonesia. Although you should not be worrying about the pay at this point and more about getting the hours to advance you career.

I personally have flown in Botswana, Namibia and Indonesia and have found all to be very enjoyable and great places to live in. And most importantly I got the experience and was able to afford to live there. 10 years later after laying a good foundation am earing a very good salary, living in beautiful Indonesia and flying my dream plane, the Pilatus PC6.

Having said all this so far, the best is to first try find you first job in your home country. This will make things much easier when it comes to your licence, medical and all the paperwork that comes along with it. But you have to be willing to more around the country and not stick to your home town as this will be limiting you in a huge way.

I have seen many of my friends do this and it has delayed their career in a big way.

Instructing is also another way of getting your experience up, it is normally the most common job that comes up. In certain cases if you do your instructors licence with a air school you could possibly work out that you can get a job with them once you have completed the licence.
