Well it has been a while since the last post, this is not because I have been lazy, but mainly because I have been close to maxing out my hours.
Today Peter and I had a 6 sector day. Starting in Medan the first leg would be to Gayo Lues. We set off just before 08:00 with beautiful weather. It is really great to be flying without having to worry to much about the weather for a change. An hour flight across, with a nice slow decent into the valley before landing in Gayo. We were about 20 minutes early so took the opportunity to take my Mavic out and get a few pictures. We then loaded our pax and set off for Banda Aceh.

Gayo
The flight to Aceh was again really good weather with no hassle getting in or any delays. We put in some fuel had a quick chat to the crew and got on our way for the next 2 legs back to Medan. Clouds were slowly starting to build now, but nothing serious enough to get in our way. A quick turn around this time in Gayo before our quick 40 min flight back to Medan.
The last 2 legs would be to Kutacane to swap the plane with Will and Ray. This flight is also only 30 min so would be nice and quick. After some lunch and refueling of the plane we set off. We met Will and Ray there who had been waiting for a while, took some photos and set off on the last leg. We had a wall of storms this time round and had to do about a 20 nm detour around them before setting course direct for Medan.

All in All it was a very pleasant day.

Hi, Michael. Be welcome. Nice pics. Where, exactly, is Gayo Lues airport? It seems like a new one or, at least, with some improvements. Is it also inside Aceh Province (Special Region)? What regency, then? Thanks and cheers. Stay safe.
“Gayo Lues Regency is a regency in the Aceh Special Region of Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created in 2002 under Statute Law 4/2002 from the northern part of Aceh Tenggara. Its capital is Blangkejeren”
This is what I got from Wiki. It is pretty old I think, just some improvements, yes. I have only been coming into it lately, really beautiful spot.
Thanks for replying and particularly for your investigation. Sorry, I’m reading it just now. Haven’t got the time to do it before. That’s the reason I asked you about it again in Instagram. My fault. Cheers!
No problem at all, glad I could help and give you some info:) Glad to see you are back
